Over the years many remarkable people attended the school; Cyril Cusack the Irish actor, Rear Admiral C B S Bingham VC (commanded the fleet at the battle of Jutland), Geoffrey Fisher who became an Arch Bishop, and Evelyn Waugh, the author, who was a member of staff. Waugh wrote his first novel, `Decline and Fall`, while he was working as a teacher here.
